What happened
The China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) published C-ICAP results for the Buick Zhijing L7's assisted driving on 19 October 2026. It tested the car under the revised 2024 edition of its protocol. The car ran assisted-driving software 27.74.0_V3.1.15. It scored 97.8% for basic driving assistance, including 98.2% for combined control, 94.7% for collision avoidance and 99.0% for driver engagement. City navigation assistance scored 92.1%. In the English version of its 2024 C-ICAP rules, CATARC states that its management center selects cars on sale "based on market performance". The rules add that the center "will independently acquire them based on random principles" and that "CATARC sets up a special fund budget each year for vehicle purchases". In a notice of 24 June 2026, CATARC says that it bought the L7 from a SAIC-GM sales outlet under its own selection plan. CATARC states that the result holds only for the tested sample, software version and test environment. The page names no system supplier. CATARC does not mention AI.
