What happened
The China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) published C-ICAP results for the Wey Lanshan's assisted driving on 13 January 2025. The tested car ran assisted-driving software Coffee OS 3.1.E110701. It scored 93.7% for basic driving assistance, including 94.4% for collision avoidance and 81.6% for combined control. Navigation pilot assistance scored 92.8%. In the English version of its 2024 C-ICAP rules, CATARC states that its management center selects cars on sale "based on market performance". The rules add that the center "will independently acquire them based on random principles" and that "CATARC sets up a special fund budget each year for vehicle purchases". In a notice of 11 December 2024, CATARC says that it bought the Lanshan from a Great Wall Motor dealer under its own selection plan. Under the 2024 rules, navigation tests include runs on Beijing or Tianjin expressways. Six navigation scenarios are scored from simulation reports that the carmaker supplies and CATARC audits. CATARC states that the result holds only for the tested sample, software version and test environment. CATARC does not mention AI.
