What happened
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) runs a trade mark application system that recommends trade mark classes. The recommendations come from uploaded images or text descriptions, and the system calculates the fees for the selected classes. In its report for the financial year 2025/26, dated 2 July 2026, the Auditor-General's Office listed the system among good practices seen in its selective audits. The auditor wrote that the system makes applications easier to submit and minimizes fee calculation errors. It added that the system reduces costly refiling from incorrect class selection. The audit of IPOS covered trade mark fees and the IT application controls of its Digital Hub system. The auditor gives no figures for errors or refilings avoided. It does not name a vendor or say that the recommender uses machine learning.

This streamlines submission of applications, minimises fee calculation errors, and reduces costly refiling from incorrect class selection.
