What happened
Euro NCAP published its assisted driving grading for the Porsche Macan in June 2025. It tested Porsche InnoDrive with active Lane Keeping, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane keeping. The system uses navigation data and real time camera inputs to manage speed limits and to slow for curves ahead. The car responded to avoid or mitigate a collision in all of the adaptive cruise control test scenarios. Through an S-bend it stayed within its lane at all test speeds. With an unresponsive driver, it made a controlled stop in its lane. Euro NCAP scored the system 92% for safety backup, 85% for driver engagement and 85% for assistance competence. It noted that the car's indirect driver monitoring detects fatigue and cannot detect distraction. The tests ran on test tracks, so no crash outcome on public roads is reported. Euro NCAP does not mention machine learning.

Assessment report, by authors with no tie to the system.
The car responds to avoid or mitigate a collision in all of the test scenarios for automatic cruise control and scores well in this part of the assessment.

AI system
- Workflow
-
The system combines map-based speed limit information with real time camera inputs. It uses navigation data to adapt speed to curves ahead. It balances the driver's steering input with lane guidance.
Follow-up
- Conditions for replication
-
The driver keeps hands on the wheel, or the system locks out after repeated warnings. The radar and camera are clear, since the car warns and prevents activation if they are blocked.
