What happened
Portsmouth City Council staff developed artificial intelligence projects in adult social care, and staff told the regulator that the council has a generative AI policy. The Care Quality Commission assessed the council's adult social care and published its report on 8 July 2026. The regulator writes that staff shared that these projects were making reporting more efficient. In their example, a statutory responsibilities survey report that used to take a month was being completed in half a day. Staff also told the regulator that AI software had helped improve person-centered documentation. The regulator relays these statements without figures of its own. It does not name the tools or describe how they work. It rated the council's adult social care as good.
