What happened
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) assesses how English councils meet their duties under the Care Act. It published its assessment of Rochdale Borough Council on 12 June 2026 and rated the council good. In its section on assessing people's needs, CQC reports what staff told it about managing waiting lists. Staff said that new AI tools like Magic Notes had reduced administrative time and supported quicker assessments. CQC gives no figure for the time saved and did not test the tool. CQC also found that care plan reviews were often delayed, and 576 people were waiting for a review in September 2025. The assessment does not name Beam, the maker of Magic Notes, or describe how the tool works.
