"account": "The OECD AI Incidents entry files the event as an AI hazard. A humanoid robot on Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ10 AI platform collapsed on stage during a live demo at Computex 2026 in Taipei after a communication glitch. The entry says it “executed a safe shutdown sequence, preventing harm”. The protective claim is Qualcomm's alone. Creative Bloq (27 July 2026, updated with a Qualcomm statement) quotes the company: “Live demos involve risk. At Computex in Taipei, a brief communication glitch triggered a fault in the prototype humanoid and initiated a controlled shutdown. The robot performed its designed safe-collapse sequence, lowering itself to its knees to protect the environment around it. The safety systems worked as intended.” NDTV (30 Jul), NDTV Profit (30 Jul, via The Indian Express) and Deccan Chronicle (30 Jul, “according to a news report”) relay the same statement. So do Asianet (31 Jul) and TechSpot (31 Jul). Gadget Review (28 Jul) says that the explanation “has not been independently confirmed”. It says Qualcomm had issued no official public statement at its time of publication. No statement was found on Qualcomm's or Neura Robotics' newsrooms. Qualcomm's release page rendered empty here, and Neura's news page lists no such item. The independent descriptions of the footage do not match a controlled kneel. NDTV says the robot “tumbled face-first onto the stage”, Asianet “crashed face-first”, and Creative Bloq “a crashing heap of plastic and metal”. TechSpot says it “collapsed like it had been shot”, “folding backwards on itself like a gymnast”, and was “dropped onto the floor” while being carried off. No person or object is reported at risk, and no beneficiary is identifiable. TechSpot identifies the robot as Neura Robotics' 4NE1 Gen 3.5 on Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ10 robotics reference design. That design is listed at up to 700 TOPS, 6–8 hours' runtime, 100 kg payload, 5 ft 9 in. Gadget Review instead places the 4NE1 Gen 3.5's debut in Munich and calls the Taipei unit “Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ10 humanoid”. The outlets say the fall happened during Qualcomm's keynote presentation. The Computex schedule lists Cristiano Amon's keynote on 1 June 2026 at TaiNEX 2, and the show ran 2–5 June. The sources do not give the exact day of the keynote. The video surfaced on social media on 22 July 2026 (a post embedded by Deccan Chronicle) and spread from 27–30 July. The Monitor's 28 July date is the coverage date. Four of the Monitor's nine listed sources (Fox News, Newsweek, Global Times, Tech Times) do not mention the incident. TechSpot's embedded November 2025 post is the Moscow AIdol clip cited for comparison.",

"summary": "Vendor statement via Creative Bloq (27 July 2026): “The safety systems worked as intended.” NDTV, Asianet and TechSpot describe a face-first or backward collapse; nobody is reported at risk.",
"account": "The OECD AI Incidents entry files the event as an AI hazard. TechSpot's embedded November 2025 post is the Moscow AIdol clip cited for comparison."
