"account": "Veterinarians at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich ran a blinded prospective study on a conventional one-site piglet-producing farm in Germany. Its nursery holds 600 pigs per airspace in 20 pens. Two batches were monitored for 39 days each. Two SoundTalks monitors (SoundTalks NV, Leuven) counted coughs around the clock and distinguished pig coughs from other barn noise. They computed a daily respiratory health status (ReHS) from 0 to 100, with yellow alerts at 40–59 and red at 0–39. The LEDs were set to a blinded “science mode” so the investigators were not cued. Oral fluids and bioaerosol samples were screened by qPCR for swine influenza A virus, PRRSV, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and PCV2. All but M. hyopneumoniae were detected. High swIAV-RNA loads were significantly associated with a decrease in the AI-calculated respiratory health score. Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica funded the study and three of its employees are co-authors. A 2026 Konkuk University trial in Korea used the same device's ReHS as an outcome measure across 2,000 grower-finisher pigs.",

A 2026 Konkuk University trial in Korea used the same device's ReHS as an outcome measure across 2,000 grower-finisher pigs."
