"account": "In a case report of 29 March 2019 (event date not reported), a 59-year-old woman attended a United Kingdom emergency department. The acute medicine service saw her (the report does not name the hospital; the author is at Ipswich Hospital). She attended because her Apple Watch Series 2 had alarmed several times overnight that her pulse exceeded 120 bpm while she was inactive. A transient ischemic attack had occurred two months earlier. An electrocardiogram (ECG) showed atrial fibrillation with a fast ventricular response. She started bisoprolol and a direct oral anticoagulant, and clopidogrel was stopped. Later case reports describe the watch's heart-rate alerts, irregular-rhythm notification or ECG app leading to confirmed atrial flutter, supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia and heart block. Treatment was by cardioversion, ablation, pacemaker or defibrillator.",
